American Icons

Many everyday items in the U.S. look different than those found in Germany. For example, in Germany the mailboxes are always yellow, while they are blue in the U.S. However, we don't have yellow school buses in Germany (I thought they were an invention of the Charlie Brown movies). German rolls don't have holes in the middle and people don't carry coffee cups with them all the time. The more Starbucks that spring up in Germany, the more people buy their coffee to go. We really like to copy the American way of life.

Viele Dinge des Alltags in den USA sehen anders aus als in Deutschland. Zum Beispiel sind unsere Briefkästen gelb, während sie hier blau sind. Dafür haben wir keine hübschen gelben Schulbusse (ich dachte ja immer die gäbe es nur bei Charlie Brown). Deutsche Brötchen haben kein Loch in der Mitte (wie die Bagels hier) und in Deutschland läuft man nicht ständig mit einem Pappbecher voll Kaffee durch die Gegend. Wobei Starbucks natürlich auch in Deutschland dazu beiträgt, daß man seinen Kaffee mit auf den Weg nimmt.
